In my last post, I shared with you some of my favourite things about homeschooling. I talked about the time I get to spend with my kids, all the lovely books, the joy of learning alongside my girls, the warm and fuzzies I get from watching them together all day long and the freedom of doing what we want, when we want.
Today, I’m going to share with you the answers given to me by my 8 year old when posed the same question: What are your favourite things about homeschooling? Warning: these answers are a little less sentimental and may also lack any depth of thought! Here are the simple and honest answers of my third grader (edited for spelling of course!):
- I get to stay home.
- I have more time to play.
- I don’t have to worry about packing a lunch.
- I don’t have to worry about being late.
- I get to go to home school groups.
So there you have it! Interpret it how you wish — I’m sure one of those reasons secretly means “I’m so glad I get to spend all day with my mommy, she’s so awesome and I just love her so much”. Maybe the first one?
What would your children say are their favourite things about being homeschooled?
I love homeschooling for all of the reasons you mentioned above. Regarding the stresses of getting the kids to do their school work, I try to keep things in an eternal perspective. Yes, they need to do their school work no matter what, but one day they will be standing before their Lord. At that point, what is really going to be important? I ask myself this question when things get stressful and it helps me keep my perspective. Thanks for sharing this amazing article!
